Product Review

AK Credit is a licensed moneylender at 2 Havelock Road, Havelock II, near Clarke Quay. They do not publish their licence number on the homepage so better to check them yourself on the Registry of Moneylenders list before you apply.

Their rate is 3.92% per month just under the 4% legal cap. They call this "the lowest interest rates in town" and "the best rate available" which is a stretch since plenty of lenders quote the same 3.92% and some advertise lower starting rates. Treat that claim as marketing rather than a reason to choose them.

However whats genuinly worth mentioning they allow partial repayment towards your principal meaning you can pay extra whenever you have spare cash and cut down what you owe faster. They also run reducing interest, so you pay interest on your outstanding balance rather than the original loan amount. Both of these save you real money if you can pay ahead of schedule.

They only do monthly loans and say outright that weekly and biweekly repayment can pull borrowers into a debt cycle. That is a fair point and worth weighing if another lender is pushing you towards weekly instalments.

They offer six loan types including bridging loans and renovation loans. Their site is available in English, Chinese and Malay which not many lenders bother with.
