Little India MRT (NE7/DT12) is the main station serving both the North East and Downtown Lines. Farrer Park MRT (NE8) is a short walk north along Race Course Road and Rochor MRT (DT13) sits at the southern edge near Bugis.

The area also functions as a major social hub for Singapore's migrant worker community particularly on weekends and public holidays.

Little India has one of the highest concentrations of licensed moneylender offices in Singapore largely due to its central location and high foot traffic along Serangoon Road. Borrowers should still verify each lender’s licence through the Ministry of Law’s official registry before proceeding with any application.
Singaporeans and PRs need their NRIC, foreigners must present a valid passport and work pass. All applicants should bring recent payslips or income documentation and proof of their current residential address. Self-employed individuals common among the small business owners along Serangoon Road and its side streets can submit bank statements or IRAS tax filings as income proof.
Provided all documents are in order, approval typically takes between 30 minutes and one hour. Disbursement usually happens on the same visit either in cash or via bank transfer.
Lenders are legally required to explain every clause of the loan contract before the borrower signs which adds some additional time to the process.
Foreign workers holding a valid work permit, S Pass or Employment Pass are eligible to borrow from licensed moneylenders. Required documents include a passport, work pass card and proof of income. Those earning below $20,000 annually are subject to a borrowing cap of $1,500 across all licensed moneylenders combined. Foreign workers earning $20,000 or more may borrow up to six times their monthly salary.
